Latvian hand craft promotion
Baltic countries often combined in tourism products as one area and culture and character of each country was not emphasized enough. This situation is quite similar with Scandinavia and Finland 20-25 years ago, but nowadays there are many mono destination products and even mono city products. We predict this will happen in Baltic area in the future and started search something attract Japanese ladies. We recognized hand craft as appropriate products to represent Latvian culture, for instance mitten gloves and colorful traditional costume.
Especially we featured Latvian had craft on media coverage, organized press trips several times, which finally influenced on travel trade to generate new package tours. Now Latvian Folk Applied Arts Fair welcomes many Japanese groups. Also the number of the overnights in Latvia increased from 6,000 in 2011 to 30,000 in 2019.
